Two Aion Online classes, Templar and Gladiator are designed with their own features, but which one do you decide to play with? This compare might help you to make the decision.
The Gladiator
The Gladiator is a more DPS oriented class. They also could be considered the master of weaponry. Not only do they gain the ability to use almost every weapon in the game, they can use them effectively. This allows for more DPS burst in comparison to the Templar. This is the most noticeable in their two-handed lines. A Templar may use only a two-handed sword, where as a Gladiator can use a two-handed sword or a Polearm. The Gladiator has more skills based off these weapons, where as a Templar has more shield related abilities.
The Templar
At the same time though, this doesn't make the Templar weak, or merely a PvE only class. Apart from having the highest resists and HP in the game, these towering behemoths can also bring the pain. With players being able to switch weapons in combat, this opens a wide variety of options for play styles. In fact, especially early on as your block rate hasn't started to reach its true potential, more Templars stack Physical Crit manastones than they do shield defense. A common tactic is to use one of their abilities that boosts their block rate. Once they block, stun the target. From here, the player switches to their two handed weapon and uses their heaviest hitting abilities with it to ensure maximum damage. Once these essential abilities have been used, swap back to the shield.
At lower levels, especially if you have a cleric or chanter around, more people drop the shield altogether. You have quite a few abilities that require a shield, so this is a disadvantage for you class. Yet, with your absorbs, high HP, good base parry rate and your low block rate (a casualty of being a lower level) there is a much narrower gap in rest time than you would imagine. The quicker kills are well worth the skill sacrifice till about level 18-20.
Templars and Gladiators gain the same abilities while they are still a Warrior. Warrior is a base class and has nothing to do with the branch classes (Templars, Gladiators, ect, ect). Therefore Templars gain the same abilities from the Warrior class as a Gladiator does. It isn't until you ascend that you get your class specific skills (i.e. absorb/reflect shields, HP boosts, and so on).
